And if we can coax NASA and the astrophysicists to somehow go down this path, they will find the answers to all of the big questions they've been asking about the universe. But in the process, they're going to have to abandon this notion that space is electrically sterile; that the electric force is shielded according to Debye (etc); and that plasmas instantaneously charge-neutralize (as if that was ever even possible ...). They're gonna have to drop their pencils and supercomputer keyboards and don a lab coat and visit their nearest plasma laboratory, and start reading books from 50-100 years ago by Hannes Alfven, Kristian Birkeland, Irving Langmuir. And they're going to have to start reading IEEE's Transactions on Plasma Sciences, and the works of Gerrit Verschuur. And even though science will be turned upside-down for a time, we may very well come out of this process with anti-gravity technology, a unified field theory and systems for real-time mapping of the galactic power grid which feeds our Sun. We'll finally be able to predict, with accuracy, the behavior of the Sun and the future climate of our own planet because all we really have to do is to watch that galactic power cord they just accidentally discovered to get a feel for how much juice is pumping through it.Good bye, Arthur Eddington.
