Don't you be dissing the healthcare system! Anyone who doesn't have healthcare is just lazy and needs to get a damn job!!I can't qualify for health insurance because of a pre-existing condition (disorder that I've had since birth) either. Sucks, since it pretty much ties you down to your job, but once insurance is reformed I'll actually have some options for a change. If it doesn't happen, then looks like I'm moving to Europe...
Unbearably bad joke.

If Eisenhower was around today Fox News would put a "D" by his name and mock his hatred of America and wasteful socialist spending on the highway system. :/ And Teddy Roosevelt...hoo boy..
He took that well.!

Kettek, you are misinformed. When the news first came out about the swine flu, there was a general fear that it may be producing a cytokine immune response (This is where having a strong immune system ends up killing you); this fear developed because younger people were being admitted to ICUs greater than anticipated. But, it soon became apparent that H1N1 wasn't like the Spanish Flu. The reason why a disproportionate amount of younger people were being hospitalized was simply because people in their mid-40s and above already had immunity. H1N1 is VERY similar to strands that spread in the 70s and before. Thus, many older people already have immunity to H1N1... which explains why the prevalence of geriatric patients is lower than anticipated. Now this doesn't mean H1N1 won't mutate into a more virulent strand that can kill young healthy adults, like the Spanish Flu; in fact, the Spanish Flu existed in a less virulent form a few years before 1918 before mutating into its deadly form. As of right now, at its worst, H1N1 is like a mild form of the flu. I plan to get it when it comes available (the nasal form) simply because I am around sick people all day. Chances are I would recover from it in a couple of days but I could be a carrier to individuals teetering on the edge... and I really don't want to be the one pushing them into their grave. But, for young healthy adults who aren't "at risk" according to the CDC, one should at least do some research before blindly getting the vaccine because of media hype. For one, vaccines do have risks. For example, Guillain Barre Syndrome occurs in 1 to 100k or 1 to 1mil (depending who you listen to). Of course, dieing from the flu is several magnitudes higher. So people should make their own informed decision.

Most employers make you disclose that you're a felon, or they'll find it out in a background check anyway. At least they had a job. Plus, one of the conditions of parole is that you find a job in many cases. If things are looking bleak for you and you have to go back, then why not rob another bank and go on the run? My old boss in college at a telemarketing place hired every homeless person and ex-con that walked through the door. 90% of them didn't last long, but that 10% that stuck around were hard workers and truly wanted to improve their lives.

Amen to that. He did a show in my college once, which was terrible. He has absolutely no cleverness, wit, timing, nothing. Later that night he showed up at a bunch of different frat houses, got piss drunk, fell down the stairs in one of them, and gave a 17 year old girl his phone number (and he was married). How is this man getting so much love, he really really really is not funny... |
