Become a Member of CWA

Come and join us in our ventures to beautify the world we live in, express your talents, and meet new friends. Be part of a premier organization of respected and highly accomplished women artists.  All women artists residing in Connecticut are eligible to become members.  All CWA membership is referred to as "elected membership" because it grants membership when an artist is either accepted into two CWA open juried shows or through a portfolio review which occurs once a year in September for new members.

Annual Members' Juried Show

All members in good standing may submit work to our Members' Juried Exhibition. The Art League of New Britain has hosted the exhibition for the past four years and is slated to host the Members' Juried Exhibition for a fifth consecutive year in 2020.

We select prominent and highly qualified women from the field of visual arts to be our jurors.

Membership Directory

The Membership Directory is a listing of all members in good standing.  For those who have websites, the name of the artist member contains a hyperlink to their respective website. There is no fee for this service.

Featured Artists Gallery

The Featured Artists Gallery provides a chance for artists to get more exposure for their work.  It contains online dedicated galleries that show three works of the artist's including the artist's name, mediums, and an artist's statement. The images in these dedicated galleries can be enlarged on the screen to appear in their original proportions. There is a one-time minimal fee for this service.

Member Gallery

The Member Gallery presents images of our members' choice works in a group online gallery.  Included with each image is the artist's name, the title of the work and the medium of the work. Galleries, the media, collectors, and curators may see and recognize your name and work. There is no fee for this service.

Volunteer Opportunities
Members may participate in and volunteer for any number of CWA activities and functions. Many opportunities exist to participate in this uniquely talented, long-established organization of women artists. Volunteering with CWA allows members to gain valuable experience within our organization, network with other accomplished members, and polish their skills.

CWA's Council Show

CWA holds the Annual Council Exhibition for Council Members in a prominent gallery in the state of Connecticut. All members in good standing with dues paid in full are eligible to become members of the Council. If an elected member moves out of Connecticut and continues to pay their yearly dues, their CWA membership will be maintained.

CWA's Annual Meeting

Once a year, all members are invited to come together for an annual meeting and enjoy the camaraderie of other members. The organization’s officers bring the group up-to-date on future exhibitions and projects. The election of Officers is held every two years at this meeting. The recent annual meeting was held at the historical Florence Griswold Museum and gardens along the banks of the Connecticut river in Old Lyme.

Monthly Membership News

Members are kept up-to-date about all that is going on in the organization as well as upcoming events in the newsletter. The Newsletter Editor also generously takes the time to search out pertinent information about other gallery events, show openings, awards given to members, media kudos, field trips to take, possible art residency locations, and additional online information.

Special Events Opportunities

Exclusive special events for members take place at various times throughout the year offering our members a chance to network and experience art at exceptional venues.  Recent trips have included a private tour of the historical Hillstead Museum in Connecticut and a visit to New York’s Brooklyn Museum to view separate exhibitions featuring Judy Chicago's and Frida Kahlo's work.
